Pastel Reflections by Christine Mikesell-Bidwell
Julia Patterson is a painter working in both pastel and oil, striving to capture those moments that have tripped some artistic trigger in her. As a native Texan and an Arizona resident for almost 30 years, her sensibilities are grounded in the American Southwest, and her subject matter is often the arid magic of the desert, its animals and landscapes.
She says, "One of the greatest gifts of becoming an artist has been learning to see. I used to look at the world but now I see it, and that inspires a greater appreciation of life and I hope for those who view my art."
Julia was a long time member of APAA and after moving to Tucson, has become a member of the Tucson Pastel Society.
