This is a two day workshop at the AAG bldg in Phoenix, AZ. The title of the workshop is FROM SKETCH TO FRAME.
In this workshop we will look at the whole process of picture making. We will take the journey through the various stages from selecting our reference images, cropping and editing, making valued sketches, introducing colour and leading on step by step for the finished framed painting. All levels welcome. Each day will begin with a demonstration with plenty of individual help plus loads of projects and exercises to enhance your creative journey.
Basic Materials List (Optional) As many pastels as you feel comfortable with. Colour range is more important than quantity. Assortment of paper: Art Spectrum, Canson Mi Tientes, Wallis, Pastel Premier, NO WHITES! I will be using Art Black, Pastel Premier and Sennelier LaCarte Card. Your favourite easel Solid backing board ( I add foam board to my backing board to act as a cushion) Your sketchbook/journal A few pastel; pencils A selection of black ink markers ( wedge shaped nibs of various sizes) Optional: Toned sketchbook for mixed media ( Strathmore toned grey or tan) Photo references you feel at ease with. Choose a photo with a good composition, value range and a balance of perspective. Hand wipes Massaging tape or clips A drop cloth A sense of fun and an open mind!
COVID PRECAUTIONS WILL APPLY. ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST SHOW PROOF OF VACCINATION AFTER REGISTRATION AND BEFORE ATTENDING THE WORKSHOP. YOU WILL BE CONTACTED BY EMAIL AND ASKED TO SEND A JPEG PHOTO OF YOUR VACCINATION CERTIFICATE. MASKS WILL BE AVAILABLE EACH DAY AND MUST BE WORN WHILE INSIDE THE ROOM.
LUNCH WILL BE PROVIDED EACH DAY AND SOME SKETCH MATERIALS WILL BE SUPPLIED BY APAA.
